Our Adoption Plan

1. Home Study (30-60 days to complete)
-This is where a social worker comes into our home and makes sure it is a suitable environment for a child and that Jessie and I are ready and able to become parents. It also involves an application process and a criminal background check.

2. Application to Agency-


3. Preliminary Process (1-3 months to complete)
- Adoption Questionnaire-This is where we establish the types of adoption situations that we are comfortable with and is used to match us with the prospective birth parents.
- Profile Development for presentation to Birth parent/s- This is when we create a print, online and video profile of us which is shown to prospective birth parents.

4. Active and waiting for a match (3-12 months wait)

5. Match with birth parent/s (3 months before delivery or could be at birth)

6. Meet our baby at the hospital

7. Placement-Bring our baby home!

8. Post Placement Visits (A few weeks to months after baby is home)
- A social worker will come and evaluate the how the baby is doing as well as how we as parents are doing.

8. Finalization (3-6 months after Placement)
